A Tokoname teapot. The history of Tokoname dates back to the Edo era (1603 - 1867) and it gets its name from the region that manufactures traditional Japanese teapots. The teapot originated from mainland China and its design changed with Japan's tatami mat culture, altering the angle of the handle and design pattern, eventually adapting to modern lifestyles to evolve into what it looks like today.
Unlike conventional built-in strainers, each strainer hole was opened manually from the inner side that is narrow on the inside and broader on the outside, which prevents tea leaves from clogging. The strainer is made of earthenware that will not compromise the tea's flavor, while the inner side of the pot is spacious for ease of washing.
Dimensions (approx.): Height of product 83mm, diameter 95mm (excludes lid, handle, and spout)
Hiroshi Koie
Each is handmade and varies slightly from one another. Do not heat by exposing directly to fire. The pottery absorbs moisture, allowing you to enjoy the gradual change in appearance for a more weathered look after every use. However, misuse may cause the surface to stain. Wash thoroughly with water or immerse in water before using it for the first time. Promptly remove tea leaves and wash the inner sides after use. Let dry thoroughly.

Pour hot water into a cup. Then pour the cup's hot water into the pot with the tea leaves inside. This will slightly cool the hot water while also warming the cup to enjoy a delicious tea. Pour hot water directly into the pot for a second serving and afterward.
