This cutting board is made from Kiso cypress. Kiso cypress grows in rugged mountainous terrain in harsh winter environments, requiring twice as much time to reach the size of ordinary cypress. Since they grow slowly, their grain is finer and they grow to become highly resilient trees. Their grain is beautiful and easy to work with, while also bearing fewer imperfections, they are highly valued as construction material. They also have high anti-decay, water-resistant, and insect-repelling characteristics that make them ideal material for a cutting board. They offer improved cutting capabilities and help retain the knife's sharpness without damaging the blade edge, compared to plastic materials. Its highly anti-bacterial characteristics also help keep the cutting board clean. *The product is not a single piece of wood, but multiple pieces bonded together
Width 360mm x depth 180mm x height 30mm
Shimojima mokko
Apply moisture to the board before use to reduce the tendency of ingredients seeping into the wood. Wash with water while rubbing well along the grain pattern with a brush. Repeat the process for the opposite side and the edges. Wash off oil and odor using a neutral detergent. Wipe with a cloth and store in an upright position in a well-ventilated place. Drying by placing in direct sunlight may cause warping. For stained surfaces, use a powdered cleansing agent.
