A hotel room bath mat created by D&DEPARTMENT for the "d room" hotels. Made by IKEUCHI ORGANIC, using 100% organic cotton and sports a "d" logo. Designed with an emphasis on a compact size to be used at home, and the hardness of the pile fabric that offers a pleasant feel when stepped on.

Reason for recommendation
A compact bath mat that fits the impression of Japanese minimalism. Firstly, the impression of d room's bathroom space is influenced by the atmosphere of Naha Terrace in Okinawa, one of my favorites. Of course, we weren't thinking of something that big. But we wanted anything that touches our skin to be completely organic. So we selected the hardness of the pile fabric when we thought about the comfort of wiping our feet or stepping onto fabric when moving from the bathroom or shower space to the changing room. We put most of the emphasis on size. It's much smaller than the ones that are used in hotels. And we picked the size that gave us the impression of Japan's minimalism. Kyoto's famous traditional lodge "Tawaraya" and my friend, Tsuji Kazumi, a glass artist who runs a guesthouse, both think our compact bath mat conveys our willingness to challenge new things. And that's what this household size is all about. (Nagaoka Kenmei / D&DEPARTMENT director)
Dimensions: length 600mm x width 450mm
Material: 100% organic cotton
Ikeuchi Organic
Founded in 1953 as "Ikeuchi Towel Factory" in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture. They put effort into promoting safety while minimizing harm to the environment when manufacturing towels by using organic raw cotton as raw materials and using little amounts of chemicals and energy for bleaching throughout the manufacturing process. Organic cotton is harvested in farms approved by certifying organizations and grown using chemicals and fertilizer that meet the requirements. Products are labeled organic cotton when manufacturers strive to minimize harm to your health and the environment and assure the working conditions of farmers meet ethical standards during production throughout their manufacturing process, from the raw cotton to the finished product.
・Shedding pile
Should the pile shed, cut the base of the thread with a pair of scissors. Even if you cut the pile, the shed part will not spread to other parts of the towel. If the shed area is left uncut, it will cause further shedding.

・Use of detergent and fabric softener
To retain the original texture, do not use chlorine-based bleach or fluorescent whitening agent. Washing with powdered detergent or liquid washing detergent based on natural oils is recommended. Use small amounts of synthetic detergents. To extend moisture-absorbing capabilities, avoid using fabric softeners. Fabric softeners apply a smooth coating to the fibers to offer a soft texture after washing. However, this tends to make fibers repel moisture and lower moisture-absorbing capabilities.
