Yonetomi Seni Co., Ltd. was established in 1952 as a knitwear manufacturer in Yamanobe City, Yamagata Prefecture. The surrounding area has a history of sheep farming since before World War II and is one of the leading knitwear producers in Japan.
Yonetomi Seni is a pioneer in the knitting industry in introducing new materials and equipment, and has an integrated system that handles everything from material development to product design and mass production in its own factory. They have tried everything from the beginning to the present, including innovations in materials and knitting methods, and have over 20,000 pieces of textiles stored in their factory.
Also, they were the first in Japan to develop summer sweaters that could be worn outside of the cold season, in an attempt to improve the situation where factories only operated for about half of the year when they only made sweaters for the fall and winter seasons. In addition, to promote the production area, the manufacturing process and techniques are open to local knitwear manufacturers, and Yamanobe City is now known as the birthplace of summer knitwear in Japan.
