Straw Kettle Rest S
Made in
Japan
Traditional Kitchen Tool Handmade in the Sado Island
This straw kettle rest (kamashiki) is made by elderly people on Sado Island who roll straw into a doughnut shape one by one. The shape has not changed since ancient times. And it is very practical. The straw provides a good amount of cushioning so that heavy pots and pans can be placed on it. The straw also allows for slow heat transfer, so the straw kettle rest itself does not get so hot. Moreover, it can be hung on the wall when not in use, so it can be stored anywhere.
