Wooden cup born out of respect for ultra-thin glass cups
This is a wooden cup made of Hokkaido wood, turned to a thickness of about 2 mm.
Wooden cups transfer heat slowly, so even when freshly brewed coffee is poured into them, they do not get too hot, even without handles.
Inspired by glass cups, the craftsman used his thinning technique to create this cup, which is called "Kami Glass" (Kami means paper in Japanese).
It is reminiscent of the design of a paper cup. The surprising lightness and thinness of the glass makes the cup very pleasant to the palate and enhances the taste of the beverage.
Made in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, where wood resources are abundant and woodworking is widespread.
The cups are made of lightweight, well-grained Hokkaido wood and are coated with a food-grade coating that prevents color reflection and staining. Tableware by Takahashi Kougei, who originally made wooden furniture legs. They are particular about locally produced materials. Please also see the "Manufacturers" section.
